Superb article !!!!!!!
We should promote private investment in education sector in India.
We need to enlighten more Indians to vote out the LEFT so that government regulations in education can be brought to the minimum required level.

Singapore is a small city-state that is not nearly as heterogenous as India. India is much larger geographically and diverse linguistically, racially, culturally. Poor comparison.

As long as proverty and corruption within the local governments continue, an educated India will only be a dream. It does not matter that we speak better english if there is no value in what we say. Call centers are not making us a better country ... that is a short term solution until the American's decide to use Bangladesh or some poorer country to run their call centers. No, we need our people to rise to the occassion in their full glory, not just in a comparmentalized way like we do now. Right the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Singapore is the model we should follow. We can do it my stinky brothers and sisters.

Though the statistics is correct, we have to understand that when you convert those percentages into actual numbers, it's still too large compared to United States or any other country. Almost all the graduates from India are able to converse in understandable english language compared to graduates from China. That's the only reason we have so many consultants from India. That's the only reason Indian software companies are thriving all over the world and there are hundreds of call centers all over India.
